Uncle Mike nearly drowned here when he was a boy in 1974. He was rescued by some men from Healys caravan park, they think he was a goner but the cold water chilled him to the bone and seems to have allowed the medics to resuscitate him; and the coastguard helicopter was called and took him to what was called the Regional Hospital in Cork. Mike came to Ardmore on his holidays almost every year thereafter and he said he wanted his ashes scattered where he had died before!
